Your mind is yours. Period.
Thoughts is built on a simple truth: your consciousness is not a commodity. We don't sell your data. We don't mine your thoughts. We don't monetize your attention. This privacy policy exists not because lawyers told us to write one, but because we believe you deserve to know exactly how your sanctuary works.
Who we are
Inner Labs is the company behind Thoughts. We are based in India. When we say "we", "us", or "our" in this policy, we mean Inner Labs. When we say "you", we mean you — the human using Thoughts.
What we collect
Account information
When you create your sanctuary, we store your name, email address, and authentication credentials. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique identifier from them — nothing more.
Your thoughts and conversations
Messages you exchange with your AI companion are encrypted end-to-end (E2EE). We cannot read them. We do not read them. They are yours.
Voice data (Desktop app)
The Thoughts Desktop app uses WhisperKit for speech-to-text transcription. All voice processing happens entirely on your device using Apple Silicon. Your voice never leaves your Mac. Zero cloud dependency. We never hear you.
Device information
We store basic device tokens for push notifications so your companion can whisper to you. We do not track your location, browsing history, or app usage patterns.
Connected services
If you connect services like Gmail, Calendar, or WhatsApp to your companion, that data is processed to serve you — triaging your inbox, managing your calendar, surfacing what matters. This data is isolated to your account and never shared with other users or third parties.
How we use your data

What we will never do:
- ✕Sell your data to advertisers or data brokers
- ✕Train AI models on your private conversations
- ✕Share your information with third parties for their marketing
- ✕Track you across apps or websites
- ✕Show you ads — ever
End-to-end encryption
Your conversations with your AI companion are protected by end-to-end encryption. Each sanctuary has its own encryption keys that only you control. Even we cannot decrypt your messages. If you lose your keys, we cannot recover your data — that's the price of true privacy, and we believe it's worth paying.
AI and your data
Your AI companion uses third-party language models (such as those from Groq and Fireworks) to understand and respond to you. When your messages are sent to these providers for processing:
- •They are sent over encrypted connections
- •They are not stored or used for training by these providers
- •They are processed and discarded
For Sovereign tier (self-hosted) users, you can bring your own API keys and models — your data never touches our servers at all.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored on Google Cloud Platform infrastructure in India (asia-south1 region). We use industry-standard security practices including:
- •Encryption at rest and in transit
- •Per-user data isolation
- •Secure key management via Google Secret Manager
- •Regular security reviews
Your rights
Your sanctuary, your rules. You have the right to:
- •Access — Request a copy of all data we hold about you
- •Correct — Update or fix your personal information
- •Delete — Permanently delete your sanctuary and all associated data
- •Export — Take your data with you if you leave
- •Withdraw consent — Disconnect any service or revoke permissions at any time

Account deletion
You can delete your sanctuary at any time from the app settings. When you delete your account, we permanently remove all your personal data, conversations, connected service data, and encryption keys. This action is irreversible — once your sanctuary is gone, it's gone. We may retain anonymized, aggregated data that cannot be linked back to you.
Children
Thoughts is not designed for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created a sanctuary, contact us and we will delete it immediately.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll notify you through the app before they take effect. We won't bury changes in fine print.
